With regard to media inquiries and public interest concerning an incident that occurred on August 2, 2026, in Bansko, the Blagoevgrad Regional Prosecutor's Office provides the following information regarding the established facts and actions taken:
On August 2, 2026, at approximately 11:40 PM, a report was received via the National Emergency Call System 112 at the Bansko District Police Department regarding an altercation between hotel guests and passersby.
Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and took action to deescalate the situation. The individuals involved in the incident were identified, and written statements were obtained. It has been established that a verbal altercation occurred between two groups, however, no evidence of physical confrontation or bodily injury has been found.
On August 5, 2026, following an analysis of the initially gathered materials, a working meeting was held at the Prosecutor's Office with the police officers conducting the inquiry. The supervising prosecutor issued specific instructions for additional action – taking statements from all individuals who witnessed the incident, reviewing and analyzing all available video footage from surveillance cameras located nearby, as well as determining the nature and extent of the material damage caused to the hotel.
The purpose of the additional actions is to fully clarify all facts and circumstances preceding, accompanying, and following the incident, as well as the conduct and actions of all participants involved, regardless of their citizenship or nationality.
A final legal assessment regarding the existence of evidence of a commission of a criminal offense will be made following the completion of the inquiry and based on the information gathered in the case file.
