Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov held talks with his Hungarian counterpart Dr. Gábor Nagy at the Courthouse

Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov met at the Courthouse in Sofia with the Prosecutor General of Hungary Dr. Gábor Nagy, who is visiting Bulgaria at his invitation. Dr. Gábor Nagy is accompanied by Barna Miskolczi, Head of the European and International Relations Department at the Prosecutor's Office of Hungary. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Prosecutors General at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office Vanya Stefanova and Magdalena Lazarova.

Borislav Sarafov and Dr. Gábor Nagy discussed the challenges facing both countries in upholding the rule of law in the European Union (EU) and emphasized the need to continuously upgrade the interaction between law enforcement institutions in EU member states as key to limiting cross-border organized crime, especially in the field of ​​illegal migration.

Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov introduced his Hungarian counterpart to the results of the Fourth Forum of Prosecutors General of the Balkan States held in early October in Sofia, which is an example of successful professional cooperation and stable partnership between the Prosecutions from the region of South-Eastern Europe and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation "Eurojust".

During the meeting, Borislav Sarafov and Dr. Gábor Nagy emphasized the long-standing excellent interaction between the law enforcement agencies of Bulgaria and Hungary which led to a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Bulgarian and Hungarian prosecutors' offices signed in 2018. The Prosecutors General of both countries emphasized the leading role of the institutions they represent in actively disrupting the activities of international criminal groups that use modern information technologies in carrying out their criminal activities.  In this regard, an agreement was reached to conduct joint training and exchange of experience and good practices in investigations against cybercrime, money laundering, and others.

During his visit to our country, Hungarian Prosecutor General Dr. Gábor Nagy will have meetings with representatives of the Executive and the security services.
