Concluding document of the participants in the 4th Forum of Prosecutors General of the Balkan States

The participants in the 4th Forum of Prosecutors General of the Balkan States, held in Sofia, united around the following priorities:

To establish a Permanent Balkan Prosecutorial Platform - with at least two meetings per year.

The Balkan countries should strengthen their means of judicial cooperation, and if possible, conclude agreements with Eurojust and the European Public Prosecutor's Office for more effective cooperation in the fight against cross-border crime.

Exchange of experience between Prosecutors' offices in sensitive areas such as human trafficking, corruption, cybercrime, environmental protection, etc.

Conducting training sessions with mixed prosecutorial teams on current cases.

Effective cooperation in the fight against illegal migration, organized crime, and cryptocurrency breach.

Modernization and synchronizing legislation in the countries of the region in view of new contemporary forms of criminal activity.

Real-time information sharing, joint investigations and legal assistance to ensure security, stability and justice in the Balkans, for trust between partner services and independent judicial systems.

The work of the 4th Forum of Prosecutors General of the Balkans was attended by the Acting Prosecutor General of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov, the Prosecutor General of Turkey Muhsin Şentürk, the Prosecutor General of Slovenia Katarina Bergant, the Prosecutor General of Albania Olsian Çela, and the Acting Prosecutor General of Kosovo Besim Kelmendi. Delegations of supreme prosecutors from Romania, Serbia and Montenegro also participated in the forum.

Michael McGrath, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, also joined the Forum from Brussels with a video greeting.

Among the guests at the event were the President of Eurojust Michael Schmidt, Roel Donna, Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rosen Jelyazkov, the Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev, representatives of the Supreme Judicial Council, the leadership of the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria, the Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria and others.
