Today, 24th February 2025, at the Palace of Justice in Sofia, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov and the Spanish Prosecutor General Álvaro García Ortiz signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding between the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Kingdom of Spain.
The document foresees the strengthening of bilateral legal cooperation, deepening the exchange of experience through joint trainings to develop the capacity of prosecutors and officials, developing common strategies to fight organized crime, preparing joint investigations, etc.
The Acting Prosecutor General and his Spanish colleague underlined the good cooperation between the two countries in the field of criminal law as part of the successful fight against cross-border organized crime. Borislav Sarafov also highlighted the excellent operational cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Bulgaria and Spain.
The Spanish Prosecutor General is on a working visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Borislav Sarafov in response to the visit of the Acting Prosecutor General to the Kingdom of Spain at the end of 2023.
