During the second visit of the year to Washington by Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov, a series of working meetings were held with senior representatives of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. The interaction between Bulgarian and American law enforcement bodies in the investigations of a wide range of crimes was discussed. Emphasis was added to the security challenges posed by increasing attempts of malicious influence by third parties, especially the use of global internet technologies to manipulate election results, including in countries of the European Union.

As a sign of the long-standing successful partnership and commitment of the Acting Prosecutor General to strengthen this cooperation, an agreement was reached during the working meetings for a delegation of representatives of Bulgarian law enforcement agencies, led by Borislav Sarafov, to visit the FBI again in early 2025, with the aim of exchanging experience in operations against different types of crimes.

The Prosecutor General, Borislav Sarafov and the Head of the FBI office for Bulgaria, Jordan Loyd, were guests for the Graduation Ceremony of the 292 session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Among the graduates at the FBI Academy is Georgi Trenchev, investigator in the Investigation Department of Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. Investigator Trenchev's participation in the training was agreed upon during Borislav Sarafov's previous visit earlier this year.
