In two letters, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office asked for assistance an American partner service and to Europol through our national representative at Eurojust in connection with the pre-trial proceedings for three dead at the Petrohan hut and the subsequent discovery of three bodies in a camper under Okolchitsa Peak.
The letters were sent by the supervising prosecutor of Petrohan case with the aim of comprehensively and fully clarifying the objective truth in the case. One of the letters states that during the investigation actions carried out so far, various types of electronic devices have been included as material evidence, in which it is possible to store information relevant to the subject of the pre-trial proceedings. Assistance was also requested for additional technical analysis of other seized material evidence - telephones, computers, etc.
The devices have currently been submitted for examination to the National Institute of Forensic Science (NFS) within the Ministry of Interior. The request to the American partner service is related to the need for expert assistance to identify all the information that may be stored in the seized electronic devices.
The other letter requested assistance from Eurojust with a view to discussing the possibility of providing expert assistance from Europol in preparing an analysis and expert reports to clarify the activities of the six Bulgarian victims on the territory of Mexico - obtaining information regarding their residence in the country, real estate owned by them, vehicles, address and possibly crime records, as well as any other information that would be relevant to the investigation in Bulgaria.
