Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov met today, 14th November 2025, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic, His Excellency, Marcello Apicella, at the Palace of Justice in Sofia. The Deputies of the Prosecutor General, Vanya Stefanova and Magdalena Lazarova, and the Deputy Head of the Mission, Edoardo Di Paolo, also participated in the conversation.
During the conversation, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest regarding the possibilities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of justice and upholding the rule of law within the EU. The Ambassador brought to the attention of the Prosecutor cases of interest to Italian business operating in Bulgaria.
The Prosecutor General and the Ambassador of Italy highlighted the importance of rapid and active exchange of information between law enforcement institutions as a key tool for intercepting and preventing cross-border organized crime, including cybercrime, illegal migration, human trafficking and terrorism.
