Bulgarian and Turkish General Prosecutors Borislav Sarafov and Muhsin Şentürk held an official meeting at the Palace of Justice in Sofia

Today, 14.04.2025, at the Palace of Justice in Sofia the Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov held a meeting with Muhsin Şentürk, Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Türkiye. This is the first official visit to Bulgaria of Muhsin Şentürk after he took up his duties and it is in response to the visit of a delegation of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria to Ankara in February 2025.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Mehmet Sait Uyanık, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Sofia.

The delegation of the Turkish Prosecutor's Office also includes Ömer Kara, Deputy Prosecutor General, Seda Türkan Manav Dursun - Prosecutor Responsible for International Relations and Hasan Cumbul, Senior Public Prosecutor. On the Bulgarian side, Deputy Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova and Tsvetomir Yosifov, Head of the International Department at the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office participated in the official talks.

The heads of the Bulgarian and Turkish Prosecutor’s Offices discussed criminal law issues of mutual interest. Borislav Sarafov and Muhsin Şentürk emphasized the high level of trust between the Bulgarian and Turkish prosecution offices and the excellent operational cooperation in the fight against various manifestations of cross-border organized crime, countering illegal migration, terrorism and internet crimes.

During the talks, the exchange of good practices and joint trainings of prosecutors and investigators between the two countries were discussed, as well as the role of the Balkan Forum of General Prosecutors as a platform for ensuring stability and security in the region.

Muhsin Şentürk met with the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Galina Zakharova. During his official visit to Bulgaria, the Turkish Prosecutor General will also hold talks with the Minister of Justice, representatives of the security services and magistrates.
