Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov with Ladislav Hamran, President of Eurojust
Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov discussed the good cooperation and active interaction between the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation - Eurojust, with the President of the organization Ladislav Hamran. The talk between them took place within the 18th Meeting of the Consultative Forum of Prosecutors General and Directors of Prosecutions of the EU Member States, which is being held in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands.
„Deepening of globalization inevitably requires strengthening of professional cooperation at international level“, stressed Borislav Sarafov in his conversation with the Prosecutor General of Ghent Erwin Dernicourt and his deputy Kristine De Beule.
The participants in the 18th Meeting of the Consultative Forum of the Prosecutors General of the EU Member States discussed the possibility of adopting a European regulation that would provide a comprehensive tool for tracing, blocking and confiscation of assets acquired through criminal offence. This also requires improving information exchange between states.
It was taken into account that in the last year there has been a tendency to increase the organization of migrant trafficking, drug smuggling, fraud and other types of crimes among the EU countries, which requires additional measures to be taken and third parties to be involved in their implementation.
The Heads of the EU Prosecutor's Offices engaged in working for even closer procedural cooperation in the fight against organized crime. In this regard, Bulgaria has a very good interaction with its neighboring countries, which are not part of the European community, and also with other countries with which it works professionally in criminal law matters.
The challenges facing the investigative bodies in prosecuting cybercrime and intellectual property infringement were also discussed during the forum.
