Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov discussed countering cybercrime and terrorism with Bavarian Prosecutor General Reinhard Röttle

Today, 01.07.2024, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov met with the Prosecutor General of Bavaria, Federal Republic of Germany Reinhard Röttle in the Palace of Justice in Sofia. The delegation of senior prosecutors from Bavaria led by him is visiting Bulgaria at the invitation of the Bulgarian Prosecutor General.

On behalf of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General Elena Karakasheva, Administrative Head of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office Iliana Kirilova, Tsvetomir Yosifov, Head of the International Department at the Supreme Prosecutor's Office, Vania Stefanova, Head of the Specialized Department, and Viktor Malinov, Head of the Inspectorate Department.

The main topics of discussion between the two sides were cooperation in countering cybercrime, terrorism financing, money laundering and identification of terrorist cells.

Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov highlighted the effective cooperation between the Bulgarian and Bavarian prosecution offices in cross-border cases. He noted that prosecutors in Bulgaria are increasingly working on cybercrime cases, which requires the organization of training for magistrates on how to counter this type of crimes.

Bavarian Prosecutor General Reinhard Röttle said that international cooperation is of great importance in the modern world and expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office for the professional approach in the bilateral relations. He assured Borislav Sarafov that the institution he leads is open to all forms of cooperation in the interest of effective joint work.

In the framework of his visit to Bulgaria Reinhard Röttle and his delegation will meet with the Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova, the Minister of the Interior Kalin Stoyanov and the chairman of SANS Plamen Tonchev.

The Bavarian delegation will also get acquainted with the security measures at the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
