Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov is in The Hague to participate in the 20th meeting of the Consultative Forum of European Union General Prosecutors

Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov is on a working visit to The Hague, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to participate in the 20th meeting of the Consultative Forum of Prosecutors General and Directors of Public Prosecution Services of the Member States of the European Union (EU). The Forum is being held at the headquarters of Eurojust and was opened by the President of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, Michael Schmidt.

The focus of this year's meeting is to discuss a document entitled "Vision 2035", which aims to set the guidelines for the strategic planning of the development of Eurojust. During the forum, the Prosecutors General and Directors of Public Prosecutions have the opportunity to share their views on the future of the organization in the coming years.

At the center of the discussions is the agency's drive to establish itself as a trusted source of practical guidance on complex cases, judicial tools and emerging types of crime, as well as the challenges of digitization and artificial intelligence. Cooperation with Europol, which is key to operational efficiency and coordinated responses to complex and rapidly evolving criminal phenomena, is also being debated.

The Forum also discussed the Eurojust Regulation with a view to updating it.

The Consultative Forum in The Hague is attended by General Prosecutors, Deputy General Prosecutors and representatives of Prosecutors' Offices of all Member States of the European Union, national representatives in Eurojust, representatives of the European Commission. The European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, also participated by video message.

The Consultative Forum of General Prosecutors of the European Union operates within the framework of Eurojust, which aims to coordinate investigations and prosecutions and cooperation between the competent authorities of the Member States in relation to serious cross-border and organized crime.
