Deputy Prosecutor General Desislava Pironeva and prosecutors from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office and from the country participate in National Seminar "Working with the European Public Prosecutor's Office at a decentralized level" in Sofia

Deputy Prosecutor General at the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office, Desislava Pironeva, is a moderator in the National Seminar on "Working with the European Public Prosecutor's Office at a decentralized level", which takes place on October 6 and 7, 2022 in Sofia. The event is organized by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) on the implementation of a project by the Academy of European Law, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (PORB).

Desislava Pironeva, who has been a national expert on the project since 2020, opened the National Seminar together with Ms Silvia Dimitrova - Deputy Director of NIJ. Ms Pironeva expressed confidence that this national seminar is very important for understanding the essence of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) and its activities as a single, new and unique structure for the protection of the financial interests of European Union (EU). The Deputy Prosecutor General stated that such events will help to effectively deal with challenges in the work with EPPO and good communication is of key importance in this regard .

European delegated prosecutor and prosecutors from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office - Department 08 "Crimes against the financial interests of the EU and interaction with the European Public Prosecutor's Office" are speakers at the National Seminar. Prosecutors from district and regional Prosecutor's Offices and investigators participate in the training.

The discussion is focused on the work, functions, structure, competence and investigations of EPPO, as well as on its interaction with PORB. During the National Seminar, the practical problems of the magistrates in dealing with crimes against the financial interests of the EU will be discussed, as well as prospects for legislative changes corresponding to the legal framework and the practice of the Court of the EU.
