Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov sent a letter to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev expressing his satisfaction with the cooperation between the law enforcement institutions of the two countries, especially in the field of mutual legal assistance.
"For the Bulgarian Prosecution, the protection of legality and fundamental rights of all citizens is a top priority and in this connection we rely on long-term and fruitful joint work", writes Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. By the letter, he express high appreciation to the professionalism and exceptional competence of the prosecutors from Uzbekistan.
Borislav Sarafov met with the parents of the two young men, Kiril Vazharov and Vasil Alexandrov, who were killed on April 18, 2009, near Solo disco bar in Sofia. Iliyan Todorov who was convicted of their murder was found in Uzbekistan on March 1, 2023 after a long-term search, and exactly one year later he was returned to serve his "life sentence" imposed by the court with an effective verdict.
