Today, February 28, 2024, Acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov held a working meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Turkey, Bekir Shahin at the Palace of Justice in Sofia, where cooperation on criminal law matters and issues of bilateral interest between the prosecutor's offices of the two countries were discussed.
Bahattin Azizagaoglu, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Turkey, the Ambassador of Turkey in Sofia H.E. Aileen Sekizkyok, Deputy Prosecutors General of the Republic of Bulgaria Maria Pavlova and Elena Karakasheva, the Administrative Head of Sofia City Prosecutor's Office Iliana Kirilova, as well as the Head of International Department at the Supreme Prosecutor's Office Tsvetomir Yosifov also took part at the meeting.
During the meeting, the contribution of the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Bulgaria to limiting illegal migration and the risks of terrorist threats in the region, as well as the resulting challenges for the law enforcement agencies, were highlighted.
Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, Turkish Prosecutor General Bekir Shahin, his Deputy Bahattin Azizagaoglu and Ambassador Aylin Sekizkyok also spoke with the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Cassation Galina Zaharova.
