In connection with disseminated information that Bulgarian citizens have been detained on the territory of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for alleged espionage in favor of the Russian Federation, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office informs that it is conducting an investigation for a crime of espionage under Chapter One of the Special Part of the Criminal Code.
Pre-trial proceedings were initiated in March 2023. Joint actions with the State Agency for National Security are carried out to identify criminal activity.
