Today, 04.04.2022 Sofia City Prosecutor's Office heard as a witness the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Kiril Petkov in the case of extortion of Vasil Bozhkov. His re-examination was carried out because the initial one had no procedural value as it was conducted by an investigating police officer at the General Directorate National Police (DGNP), an incompetent body.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Kiril Petkov, was regularly called by a summons served on 31.03.2022 on the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, who undertook to deliver it to him. The summons specified two further alternative dates in view of Mr Petkov's possible official engagement.
Mr. Kiril Petkov appeared at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office on the main date and submitted to the supervising prosecutor and the investigator testimonies that were more detailed than the initial ones given to an investigating police officer at the General Directorate National Police.
The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office continues to take active steps in the investigation and will continue to keep Bulgarian society informed.

In addition to the case of extortion of Vasil Bozhkov, the Prime Minister Mr. Kiril Petkov was also heard as a witness and a victim in a case of hooliganism. The case is being prosecuted and supervised by the Regional Prosecutor's Office Stara Zagora, TD Kazanlak.
After permission of the supervising prosecutor under Article 198 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office informs that the pre-trial proceedings for a crime under Art. 325, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code was initiated by a decree of a prosecutor in the Regional Prosecutor's Office - Stara Zagora, TD - Kazanlak in connection with snowballs thrown at the Prime Minister of the country during his address on the occasion of the National Holiday of Bulgaria on 03.03.2022 on “St. Nicholas” Peak in the “Shipka” Pass.
In this pre-trial proceedings instituted by an investigator in the District Investigation Department of the District Prosecutor's Office - Stara Zagora, an investigator in the Investigation Department of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office was assigned to conduct an interrogation by a delegation of Mr. Kiril Petkov, to clarify his rights as injured in the criminal proceedings.
