With regard to the high public interest  for the espionage case against Nikolay Malinov, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office provided the following information:

The pre-trial proceeding was instituted on 09.07.2019 under Article 212, paragraph 1 of the Criminal-procedure Code for the fact that on an unspecified date in January 2014 to 03.07.2019, on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, the accused was serving as a spy in benefit for a foreign organization, as he has committed a crime under the previous article - a crime under Article 105, paragraph 1, item 2 of the Penal Code.

To date, a numerious actions have been carried out in the investigation: witnesses have been interviewed; a searches and seizures were carried out; two computer-technical expertises have been prepared;  references and documents relevant to the subject of the case.

On September 10, 2019, Nikolay Malinov was brought before the court for a crime under Art. 105, para 1, item 2 of the Penal Code.  His e was measure of restraint "bail" amounting of BGN 50,000, which was paid by the accused.

On September 12, 2019, with the permission of the supervising prosecutor, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria published a report in Russian prepared by Nikolay Malinov, in which he presented his views as chairman of the National Russophile Movement in Bulgaria in relation to the geopolitical reorientation of Bulgaria and strategy how to achieve it.  The Prosecutor's Office also published documents concerning CCB AD, DUNARIT AD and EMCO EOOD.

Having regard that the Bulgarian citizens have the constituational right to be informed, we present another part of the evidences gathered - an attached copy of the Memorandum in Bulgarian, together with its annexes, and other documents.

Disclosure of materials from the pre-trial proceedings is permitted under Article 198 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The files contain deleted personal data and do not contain facts and circumstances that harm the interests of third parties, as well as obscene words or expressions.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office will continue to inform the Bulgarian citizens in cases of high public interest, in compliance with the presumption of innocence and without endangering the course of criminal proceedings.
