Sofia City Prosecutor's Office carries out an inspection under Art. 145, paragraph 1, item 1 of the Judicial System Act (JSA) for possible illegal use of “Pegasus” software in state structures for the purpose of unregulated wiretapping of Bulgarian citizens.
In the course of the inspection, a prosecutor from Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office immediately requested information from the National Special Intelligence Means Control Bureau (NBKSRS) whether the product of the Israeli technology company NSO Group "Pegasus" had been used in state structures, as well as whether a check of the procedures for the use and application of special intelligence means with regard to specific citizens involving the same product had been carried out.
Similar information is required from State Agency for National Security, State Agency Technical Operations and others.
In the course of the inspection it will be clarified whether “Pegasus” software has been sold and provided in Bulgaria and possibly where it has been implemented.
The public will be informed about the results in a timely manner.
