Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev held a working meeting with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine - Ms Iryna Venediktova within the frame of the International Anti-Corruption Forum on Kleptocracy and Illegal Financial Flows in Kiev, Ukraine.
Subject of the conversation were topics of mutual interest for both prosecutorial institutions and the potential opportunities for optimizing the work process in order to conduct successful cross-border investigations and counteracting crime, ensuring the security of citizens. The two countries have strengthened the traditionally fruitful co-operation between the institutions.
“We have always had close and effective co-operation with the Prosecutor’s Office of Bulgaria and I am convinced that personal contacts will help us in our further work”, said the Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Ms Venediktova. The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr Ivan Geshev reassured that the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office can always count on a fruitful dialogue with the Bulgarian colleagues.
Prosecutors general of the both countries emphasized on specific examples of working together in the field of international legal assistance, in particular extradition procedure. Defending the principles of the rule of law and the independence of prosecutors were also discussed.
