The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev held a working conversation with Bogdan Licu, First Deputy Prosecutor General of Romania. Licu, who is a former Prosecutor General at Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, is in Bulgaria to participate in the Second Working Forum of the Balkan States General Prosecutors on „The Role of the Prosecutor`s Office in Promoting the Rule of Law“.
The meeting was attended by Prosecutor Nadina Spinu, Chief Prosecutor to the International Judicial Cooperation Department of Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
Ivan Geshev and Bogdan Licu discussed the interaction between the Prosecutor's Offices of the Balkan countries and the fruitful cooperation between the Bulgarian and Romanian Prosecutor's offices in the context of the membership of Bulgaria and Romania in the European Union.
A Cooperation agreement between the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the General Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania has been in force, as well as a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism of Romania.
