The Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi held a meeting in the Palace of Justice in Sofia

Today, 10th June 2021, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev and the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi held a meeting in the Palace of Justice in Sofia.  The meeting was attended by the Deputies of the Prosecutor General Daniela Masheva, Krasimira Filipova, Desislava Pironeva and Prosecutor Kamen Mihov – Head of Department „Crimes against the financial interests of EU and interaction with the European Public Prosecutor`s Office” within the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor`s Office. On the part of the European Public Prosecutor`s Office in the meeting took part Teodora Georgieva – prosecutor from Bulgaria in the European Public Prosecutor`s Office; Milan Jaron – Acting Head of Strategy and Executive Office Unit and Tine Hollevoet – Spokesperson.

Ivan Geshev congratulated Laura Kövesi for the official launch of the European Public Prosecutor`s Office.

The Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev expressed his confidence in the prospects of successful cooperation between the Prosecutor`s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the European Public Prosecutor`s Office in the interest of the European citizens on counteracting frauds with EU funds, VAT abuses, money laundering, corruption and organized crime.
