On March 30, 2022, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office received a signal from the Administrative Secretary of the Political Party “GERB”. It sets out allegations of possible crimes committed in the line of duty by persons holding senior public positions, which within the meaning of Art. 411a, paragraph 1, item 4 of the Criminal Procedure Code are within the competence of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
The report alleges that illegal actions were probably committed, which probably constitute a crime under the Penal Code, regarding pre-trial proceedings initiated by the General Directorate National Police in the Ministry of Interior, for which Boyko Borisov, Vladislav Goranov and Sevdalina Arnaudova were detained for up to 24 hours under the Ministry of Interior Act.
Based on Article 145 of the Judicial System Act, a prosecutor from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office ordered an investigation into the case. Information and documents have been requested from the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
In connection with the high public interest, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office will periodically inform the public about the actions performed on the inspection.
