As a result of the joint activity of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office and the State Agency for National Security, pre-trial proceedings have been instituted for crimes against the Republic of Bulgaria under Art. 105, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code. In the course of the investigation it was established that a citizen of the Russian Federation, enjoying diplomatic immunity, had carried out unregulated intelligence activities, incompatible with diplomatic relations, on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The same is contrary to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. In this regard, the Prosecutor General informed the Minister of Foreign Affairs about the data collected in the course of the investigation with a view to taking action by competence.
