In a telephone conversation with Ms. Irina Venediktova, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev showed solidarity for his colleagues and the Ukrainian people. Ivan Geshev emphasised that the Bulgarian state acts in line with the member states of the European Union and NATO.
Noting that Ukraine's sovereignty and independence within its internationally recognized borders is a fact that must be respected, Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev expressed the readiness of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office to assist in resolving issues arising in the crisis situation in accordance with the principles of the international law.
Ivan Geshev recalled the readiness of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office to support its Ukrainian counterparts, including by taking all necessary action within its competence in relation to the application of sanctions imposed on the Russian state and individual citizens.
During the conversation initiated by the Ukrainian side, Ivan Geshev also confirmed his support expressed during his visit to Kiev at the end of 2021 for the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office in their mission to uphold stability and justice in the light of the democratic values and the rule of law.
