Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office on its own initiative referred the matter in connection with publication of Sofia Municipal Councilor B.B. in a social network that he has received information from Bulgarian services about an immediate threat to his life, which has also been confirmed by the foreign partner services.
A prosecutor from Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office will conduct a personal inspection on the case, and B.B. will be summoned to give explanations.
With regard to the allegations of B.B, letters were sent to the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate Combating Organized Crime within the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate National Police, Capital Directorate of Interior, State Intelligence Agency (SIA), State Agency for National Security (SANS) and to the Defense Intelligence Service asking if they had information about a threat against B.B. and what measures were taken to protect him.
In his publication, the municipal councilor B.B. writes that he has given detailed evidence to the competent authorities. So far, the Prosecutor's Office has not received such information from the institutions, which by law must be reported immediately to the Prosecution.
The need for direction and supervision for the lawful and timely implementation of actions on signals containing data on committed crimes is an exclusive competence of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.
