Sofia Regional Prosecutor's on its own initiative referred the matter in connection with a statement by journalist A.Ch. that he had been threatened.
A supervising prosecutor will conduct a personal inspection on the case. A.Ch. will be summoned for taking his evidence by a prosecutor.
In the course of the inspection, letters were sent to the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate Combating Organized Crime within the Ministry of Interior, General Directorate National Police, Capital Directorate of Interior, State Intelligence Agency (SIA), State Agency for National Security (SANS) and to the Defense Intelligence Service asking if they had information about a threat against A.Ch. and what measures were taken to protect the journalist.
To date, the Prosecutor's Office has not been notified by the institutions of a threat against A.Ch. as should be done by law.
After gathering the relevant information, the supervising prosecutor will assess whether there is sufficient evidence of a crime of a general nature. If any, pre-trial proceedings will be instituted.
