On 11 December 2021, after a signal from prosecutors at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, the Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office instituted pre-trial proceedings for attempting to persuade an official to violate his official duty in connection with the administration of justice - a crime under Article 289, in conjunction with Art. 18, para 1 of the Penal Code.
In the course of the investigation, numerous witnesses were interrogated, video surveillance cameras were seized and actions were assigned to Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property in view of the need to conduct a comprehensive and complete investigation of the objective truth.
As a result of the investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered for the guilt of the director of General Directorate Combating Organized Crime K.S., for trying to persuade a prosecutor to agree with the requests of the defense of the accused B.K. - not to protest the "house arrest" imposed on him and to allow him to travel abroad.
K.S. told a supervising prosecutor that he was "putting an end to the investigation" by refusing to comply with the defense's demands and that she would be held accountable by the society.
On 23 December 2021, by a decree of supervising prosecutors from Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office, K.S. was brought in as an accused, and a summon was sent to him to present to him the prepared decree for bringing him to criminal responsibility. The accused was imposed subscription remand measure.
The pre-trial proceedings were taken under special supervision by Sofia Appellate Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office.
