Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev held a working meeting with Han Moraal, Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors. He visited Sofia on the occasion of the conference “Judicial Reform. Specialized justice”, organized by the leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prosecutors General Krasimira Filipova and Daniela Masheva, as well as the Head of the International Department at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office, Tsvetomir Yosifov.
In the course of the conversation the work of the prosecution and the challenges facing its staff were discussed, as well as the need to preserve the independence of magistrates in order to guarantee objectivity and the rule of law.
Emphasis in the conversation was on the readiness of the International Association of Prosecutors for active dialogue and cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria in preserving integrity, ensuring respect for human rights and providing the necessary conditions for independent performance of professional duties of prosecutors in the country.
