Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev met with Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev held a working meeting with the President of Eurojust Ladislav Hamran. It took place in the framework of the 15th Annual Consultative Forum of Prosecutors General of the European Union, held in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Among the main topics Ivan Geshev and Ladislav Hamran discussed, were co-operation in the fight against organized crime and corruption, countering terrorism, human trafficking and illegal migration.

The Prosecutor General emphasized the excellent coordination in conducting joint investigations and the contribution of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in some of the important cases for Eurojust. In this regard, he told the President of Eurojust that "direct communication with representatives of EU Prosecutor’s Office’s, through Eurojust, is "the basis of effective work on detecting and combating crime”.

Ladislav Hamran, for his part, praised the work of Bulgaria's National Desk at Eurojust and stressed the contribution of Bulgarian prosecutors to creating a safer Europe by joining cross-border efforts in investigating various types of serious organized crime.
